Montessori-based Nursery School
Montessori Education is an educational method with a long history and achievements that began in 1907 with the ``Children's House`` by the Italian doctor Maria Montessori.
Montessori method values freedom with limits - follow each child’s development, interests, needs, and abilities with proper guidance – while the Japanese public education method applies standardized structure to children regardless of the difference in their interests, abilities or personal development stages.
Montessori method emphasizes independence, and views children as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a sufficiently supportive and well-prepared learning environment. By providing such support and environment at the right timing for every children, we aim to support their ability to learn spontaneously and to develop them physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

Practical Life
Children have “sensitive periods” when their interests are focused on developing a particular skill or knowledge area. They acquire mental functions such as judgment, attention, and concentration from exercising such intrinsic motivation, and not from teaching.
By providing an appropriate environment to support such development, children will be able to acquire skills to physically control his/her body, leading to self-confidence and independence.
LanguageLanguage
Infants’ language acquisition begins with “listening” and then “speaking,” “writing,” and “reading.” Montessori education recognizes these processes and uses the right materials at the right time to help children learn the language.
Sensorial
Using these teaching tools, children unconsciously organize the impressions of various experiences in their daily lives, and naturally acquire the abstraction, comparison, classification, and contrast of concrete objects and gain the intellectual foundation.
MathematicsMathematics
Children understand big, small, heavy, light, hot, and cold. They can understand these quantities even when they don’t know the numbers yet. However, to express these quantities numerically, it is necessary to learn the numbers in spoken words and written letters and to connect them with the quantities.
At Grace, we use appropriate Montessori teaching tools to assist these processes at the right timing when the child is interested and able to learn them.
